I’ve been spending my commutes to the office this week trying to study and learn more about blogging to grow this space. I’ve been really enjoying the Thrive Blogger Podcast, and in one of the episodes this week got some inspiration to introduce something new on here – a weekly series of my favorite product recommendations for traveling with little kids.

I’ll be posting a new product recommendation every Friday (or at least I’m gonna try!), and thought there was no better product to start with than one of my FAVORITES, the Rouu Baby toddler carrier.

Woman in striped dress carries child in red shirt on a sunny beach, near turquoise water. Brown bag and clear blue sky in the background.

In all transparency, this was gifted to me earlier in the year before a couple big trips, but it very quickly became an essential item for every time we travel. I only wish I had gotten it sooner!

My son has always been a velcro kid. He was a velcro baby, velcro toddler, and now a velcro little kid. As he’s gotten older, it has gotten harder to carry him around as much as he wants to be carried, and this product is a total lifesaver for my back in those moments. It helps evenly distribute his weight so pressure is relieved from my back and hips.

Woman with a brown backpack carries a child next to a stroller on a sunny street. Traffic signs and palm trees are visible.

I’ve brought it on a few trips this year, and it has been so helpful. A few real-life scenarios where it has been tremendously helpful for me:

  • Carrying my son across the entire Austin, TX airport at midnight because our gate was the furthest from the exit. I was flying solo, so also had all of our luggage and the Rouu Baby helped free up my hands too!

  • Walking about a half mile down Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman. If you’ve ever walked a long distance on a sandy beach, you know it’s more strenuous than walking on solid ground!

  • Snuggling my son after he spiked a fever on a flight, allowed us to move more quickly, get out of the airport faster to get medicine and get to our condo for a nap.

Overall, this is a toddler travel product I strongly recommend to all families. It saves the strain on your back in those inevitable moments where you need to carry your kiddos, and frees up your hands to carry luggage and other items.

Here’s a link where you can purchase one before your next trip!
