OUR FAVORITE MID-BUDGET HOTEL CHAIN FOR LITTLE KIDS

Before I had my three-year-old, I was (dare I say), a hotel snob. I had a very high bar for the hotels I’d stay at and if I’m being honest a hotel would make or break the trip for me.
Travel looks different in a whole lot of ways after having my son. One of the most notable is that kids are expensive! And my travel budget has changed a bit as a result and I can no longer justify the really luxurious hotels I might have once chosen.
I now opt for getting lucky and finding great deals on those top tier hotels, or finding mid-tier hotel brands that feel a little luxurious (especially with amenities that kids find special too).
I have a 100% success rate at my favorite chain – SpringHill Suites, and here’s why.

Free breakfast
Again, if I’m being honest, this is one of those amenities that I would have scoffed at pre-kids. A free hotel breakfast instead of brunch? What a crazy thought!
Now as a mom, a free breakfast is one of my top hotel amenities. You have something to do with your kiddo right away when they wake up, it’s a great way to save money, and typically there are some relatively healthy options.
SpringHill Suites delivers on all of this – and most importantly, despite being a free buffet, their breakfast is always clean and somewhat upscale.

Room layout and size
Despite being suites, their rooms aren’t the traditional two room suites (or at least not at the ones I’ve visited). But, they ARE spacious and comfortable. They have a trundle bed (great for multiple kids!) and desk if working parents need to get a few things done while traveling. There’s plenty of space for luggage storage and the bathrooms are a large size for multiple people to get ready at the same time.

Hotel amenities
If your kids are anything like mine, snacks are one of the top vacation treats they look forward to. SpringHill Suites has a small food/drink shop right in the lobby (complete with beer and wine for mom and dad!). This comes in handy if you’ve run out of in room snacks (as we very often do), and your kids are looking for an end-of-day bag of chips to nosh on while they wind down.
Have you stayed at SpringHill Suites? What is your favorite kid-friendly hotel chain?
